A strong stormsystem will move into the region this afternoon, and the WinterStorm Watch has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning....WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PMPST THURSDAY AT OR ABOVE ELEVATIONS GREATER THAN 4000 FT...* WHAT...Heavy snow possible at or above elevations greater than4000 ft. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 24 inchespossible with locally higher amounts over the higher peaks. Windscould gust as high as 45 mph.* WHERE...West Slopes North Cascades and Passes.* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM PST Thursday.* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult including SR 20 andWashington Pass. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water inyour vehicle in case of an emergency. Prepare for possible poweroutages.
