Heat Advisory issued July 5 at 11:06AM EDT until July 5 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA* WHAT...Heat index values up to 107.* WHERE...The Piedmont and foothills of Virginia and North Carolina,including the Roanoke Valley.* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heatillnesses.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loosefitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morningor evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion andheat stroke.To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks inshaded or air conditioned environments.
