Special Weather Statement issued June 6 at 8:19PM EDT by NWS Burlington VTAt 819 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking gusty showers near PortKent, moving east at 25 mph.HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.SOURCE...Radar indicated.IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow aroundunsecured objects.Locations impacted include...Essex Junction, South Burlington, Burlington International Airport,Burlington, Winooski, Essex, Colchester, Essex Junction Village,Williston, Port Kent, Westford, Milton, Richmond, Fairfax, Jericho,South Hero, Shelburne, Brown Point, Mallets Bay State Park, and NorthWilliston.This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 79 and 100.If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead tolocalized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through floodedroadways.If on or near Lake Champlain, get out of the water and move indoorsor inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 milesfrom the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are closeenough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!
