Red Flag Warning issued September 29 at 1:07AM MDT until September 30 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Rapid City SD...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY THROUGH MONDAY WITHGUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY ACROSS NORTHEAST WYOMING ANDWESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA....Gusty south to southwest winds will develop this afternoon,especially over western South Dakota where winds will gust over 40mph. Further west over the Black Hills area and northeastWyoming, winds will not be as strong, but deeper mixing willallow for frequent gusts to 30 mph. RH will drop 15 percent orbelow this afternoon, which will result in critical fire weatherconditions. Poor RH recovery is expected tonight. A cold frontwill then cross the region tonight, supporting gusty northwestwinds through Monday. Portions of western South Dakota will seegusts of over 50 mph. RH will fall to below 20 percent Monday,especially over southwest to south central South Dakota,supporting continued critical fire weather conditions.* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 318 Wyoming Black Hills and319 Northern Black Hills.* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph today,shifting northwest and increasing to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to40 mph late tonight into Monday.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent.* IMPACTS...The combination of gusty winds and low relativehumidity would produce critical fire weather conditions.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination ofstrong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures cancontribute to extreme fire behavior.
