Red Flag Warning issued September 28 at 2:02PM PDT until September 29 at 7:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR...BREEZY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY SUNDAY....Winds will increase on Sunday as a dry cold front sweeps acrosseastern Washington and eastern Oregon. Very dry air will alsoaccompany the cold front, causing the relative humidity toquickly fall in many locations of the Columbia Basin. As aresult, this area will be susceptible to rapid fire spread.The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red FlagWarning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effectfrom 11 AM to 7 PM PDT Sunday. The Fire Weather Watch is nolonger in effect.* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 641 Lower Columbia Basin ofOregon and 691 Lower Columbia Basin.* WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent.* IMPACTS...Rapid fire spread may occur, particularly in drygrassy areas.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination ofstrong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures cancontribute to extreme fire behavior.
