Hydrologic Outlook issued June 2 at 5:17AM PDT by NWS Portland ORESFPQRAn unseasonably strong and moist low pressure system will spreadmoderate to locally heavy rain across southwest Washington andnorthwest Oregon this morning, continuing through tonight andpossibly early Monday morning.Rainfall rates are the primary concern with this event. Severalhours with rainfall rates of one quarter to one half inch per hourare expected for the Coast Range, Cascades, and locally along thecoast later today through this evening. Rainfall rates of thismagnitude, especially when sustained for several hours, can causeflooding of creeks and small streams. Areas of poor drainage willalso lead to standing water on some area roads. Flooding is notanticipated on mainstem rivers, but significant rises are likely.Rain is expected to taper to showers Monday morning, dramaticallydecreasing the rainfall rates and any related impacts throughout theday Monday.Monitor weather.gov/portland for the latest updates and any watches,warnings, or advisories that may be issued for this event.
