Air Quality Alert issued June 15 at 4:51PM CDT by NWS Memphis TNAQAMEGThe Shelby County Health Department has issued a Code Red OzoneHealth Advisory effective for Shelby County Tennessee, CrittendenCounty Arkansas, and DeSoto County Mississippi, including the Cityof Memphis that will remain in effect until sunset. This ozone healthadvisory is due to monitored ozone values that have reached unhealthylevels. These values have exceeded the Environmental ProtectionAgency's federal safe health standard. The Shelby County HealthDepartment strongly recommends that active children and adults, andpeople with respiratory disease, such as asthma, avoid prolongedoutdoor exertion. All others should limit prolonged outdoorexertion. Please continue to check the latest air quality forecastsand updates until monitored values return to safe levels.
