Special Weather Statement issued June 1 at 7:38PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LAAt 738 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms alonga line extending from 11 miles north of Montgomery to 10 milesnorthwest of Toledo Bend Dam to 6 miles west of Browndell. Movementwas southeast at 40 mph.HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.SOURCE...Radar indicated.IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow aroundunsecured objects.Locations impacted include...Alexandria, Pineville, De Ridder, Leesville, Rosepine, Boyce,Anacoco, Sugartown, Toledo Bend Dam, Hineston, Lena, Fort Johnson,Burkeville, Alexandria International Airport, Slagle, Pitkin, Ball,New Llano, Colfax, and Hornbeck.This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 74 and 109.If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may leadto localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through floodedroadways.Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safeshelter inside a building or vehicle.These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radiostations and available television stations for additional informationand possible warnings from the National Weather Service.A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT forcentral and west central Louisiana.
